Chrysler Looking to Expand on Popular Slogan

Back in 2011, Chrysler introduced a new slogan which goes to the heart of the U.S Automotive industry: “Imported from Detroit.” The campaign proved highly successful, but lately there have been rumors that Chrysler is going to do away with the slogan. We’re here to tell you that’s not the case.

“‘Imported from Detroit’ is and will continue to be the tagline for the Chrysler brand,” according to Olivier Francois, the Chief Marketing Officer.1

The ads which premiered at the 2011 Superbowl showcase popular vehicles such as the Chrysler 200 and Chrysler 300, and have featured Eminem, Dr. Dre, and more. Each ad highpoints luxury, style, and of course the Motor City and its great achievements.

“As we move forward, we will appeal to the consumer who appreciates not having to ‘cross an ocean’ to find quality, style and technology when it can be found right here,” Francois said.2

In addition to continuing the popular campaign, the tagline will also be improved upon and used as the benchmark for new ideas and methods in which Chrysler promotes its vehicles. Chrysler is already working on a clothing line from Carhartt (based in Detroit), and a sponsorship of events like the Detroit Jazz Festival.
